In my previous career as a wildlife veterinarian in Africa, working hands-on with elephants, rhinos, lions, and other wildlife, I darted, anesthetized, radio-collared, treated, and relocated animals for conservation purposes. At the same time, I was confronted with the stark contrast between the rich and poor in countries abundant with priceless natural resources.

Back in the United States, I became acutely aware of the privileges of my middle-class lifestyle and the disparities in health, wealth, and opportunities within my own country. To cope with these distressing issues, I use art to process and address these challenges.
